REFLECTIONS OF THE PAST TOURS
Take a stroll through our unique local historic past. Come to the Operation Uplift’s West Town Museum, (104 S. 5th Ave., Maywood, IL 60153) and board an air-conditioned bus and be lead on a guided tour of the many local historical sites that have been designated within the Village of Maywood. Some that you may have never known existed….
Tour Schedule is as Follows:
Tuesday, June 13, 2017 Bus boards at 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 14, 2017 Bus Boards at 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm.
Tours donations can be made at $15.00 per person. All tour reservations for either date must RSVP with Ms. Jeri Stenson, Museum Curator by C.O.B. Friday, June 9, 2017.

Come Join us with the Village of Maywood at the Maywood Home for Soldiers’ Widows at 224 N. 1st Ave., Maywood, IL 60153; for a re-enactment of the Union Army’s arrival at Galveston, TX and the reading of the proclamation informing Texas slaves of their freedom on Juneteenth Day.
(Shuttle for seniors may be available between Operation Uplift Inc. and the Widow’s Home Site)

A TASTE OF EMANCIPATED SOUL
Following the Proclamation Ceremony, come back to the Operation Uplift Grounds at 104 S. 5th Ave., Maywood, IL 60153; for a Festive Celebration with music and an authentic Juneteenth Soul Food Feast, as we commemorate the celebration that our ancestors took part in over 150 years ago, after they were informed of their FREEDOM!!!!
ALL Soul Food Dinners will be sold for a low price of $10.00.
